Collapsible Scoops

In conventional sampling from the discharge of a vibrating screen or feeder, the scoop needs to be passed forward through the falling stream and then back again. For high capacity screens, a conventional square scoop will overflow during the two passes and therefore yield a biased sample increment. The collapsible scoop overcomes that limitation since the scoop is passed forward through the falling stream in the closed configuration, then opened behind the falling stream and pulled back through the falling stream only once in the open position.

The collapsible scoop is fabricated in 316SS to avoid deformation during use, but its detachable handle is fabricated in aluminium in order to minimise the overall mass of the apparatus.

A detailed bias testing report for the collapsible scoop versus a conventional square scoop, for sampling from vibrating screen discharges, is available for purchase.
